Two months ago, my dog and I moved into a split-level rural Rocky Mountain house-share with three single straight guys from our singleton’s one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn.
In those two months, I’ve noticed that while my guys can bake pies and shoot guns, they keep missing the target when it comes to love.
Knowing that Huffington Post readers are brilliant and savvy when it comes to love, I’d like to ask your advice.
· What are my dashing housemate dudes doing wrong — and right when it comes to their dating lives?
· How could they better win a woman’s heart and fulfill their quest for lasting love?
The future of my bachelor housemates’ hardy hearts are in your hands! Please be kind, and opine.

Victoria Beckham has reportedly had tens of thousands of pounds of designer goods - including tour costumes - stolen from her backstage dressing room.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Victoria found the items had gone missing after the Spice Girls‘ show in Cologne, Germany on Thursday.
She is said to have lost two pairs of £5,000 shoes, a jacket, jewellery, stage outfits and an embroidered one-of-a-kind red satin dressing robe Roberto Cavalli designed for her backstage.
A backstage source told the newspaper: “Victoria’s post-show high was ruined when she noticed stuff had been nicked.”
“All the other girls’ dressing rooms were untouched, but somebody had clearly been rifling through Victoria’s possessions.”
“She was very upset. Fashion means everything to her. She keeps all her old outfits in storage.”
The source added that she was equally upset when earlier in the week she’s spotted some backing dancers mocking “She walked in on a dancer doing an impression of her, just standing at the mike, breathing heavily and pouting.”

SAN MARINO, Calif., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ — Epeius Biotechnologies
Corporation announced today their appreciation of the accomplishments of
their contemporaries in 2007, a truly remarkable year in terms of
biomedical research, scholarship, and gonzo journalism. It was a year in
which a definitive meeting entitled “In Vivo Barriers to Gene Delivery” was
held at the prestigious Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where Nobel laureate
James Watson presides, or shall we say presided. The meeting served to
inform the public and the scientific community that there were actual
reasons that the much heralded promise of gene therapy had thus far failed
to deliver. Perhaps, if the title of the meeting had been changed to “In
Vivo Solutions to Gene Delivery,” the scientists of Epeius Biotechnologies
might have attended.

2007 was a year that the ‘experts’ of all things targeted published a
remarkable review article in Nature (Nature Reviews, Genetics, 2007,
8:573-587) entitled “Engineering Targeted Viral Vectors for Gene Therapy.”
Among the flotsam and jetsam of adenoviral shipwrecks, and the ruminative
discourses on “Obstacles to Systemic Targeting,” was an intriguing preface
stating that “the first clinical trials have already begun to take place,”
and a brief notation that may be of considerable scientific interest. And
we quote, “A third example is represented by the first and so far only
targeted vector that has been tested in the clinic: the retroviral vector
Rexin-G, which expresses a cytocidal dominant-negative form of cyclin G1.”
The article goes as far as to mention the fact that a number of clinical
studies have “demonstrated the effectiveness of the vector” in the crucible
of clinical medicine.
Ironically, 2007 is also the year in which the much acclaimed and
heavily subsidized National Gene Laboratories (NGVL) — whose
mission and “primary goal” as an academic vector production facility and

Emma Bunton gave ‘Spice Girls’ fans a scare when she injured her ankle last week. Fans were convinced that she was going to cancel their first UK concert in nine years, but designer Roberto Cavalli came to the rescue.
Bunton says, “Roberto’s absolutely amazing. He’s made me a pair of padded boots and a pair of soft sandals so I can get through the concert.”
Now that’s dedication! I’ve sprained my ankle before and let assure you, it’s no walk in the park! But than again, Cavalli wasn’t making special shoes for me.

(Over the past few weeks, as interest has grown in the 2008 U.S. presidential contest, I’ve been asked by friends from overseas for my opinion on Barack Obama. Could I explain the phenomenon they are seeing on television? Can he win?
Here is my response.)
Watching Barack Obama since he first burst onto the national scene with his electrifying speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, through his spectacular three-state tour de force last week with Oprah Winfrey, it is clear that the Obama phenomenon requires both reflection and understanding.
It appears from the excitement he generates that Barack has tapped into a deep vein in the contemporary American psyche. While it is always useful to parse out the positions he has taken on critical issues, and even to weigh in the balance the importance of “experience” versus “judgment,” or “change” versus “Washington” - these being the matters discussed by the candidates - they, alone, do not explain the phenomenon we are witnessing. Something more profound is occurring in this election. And it appears to be wrapped up in the person of Barack Obama, himself.

It was over a year ago that my daughter Sarah spoke to me of her enthusiasm for Barack’s still fledgling candidacy. Sarah is a graphic designer and a mother, sensitive and thoughtful about the issues of the day. But like many, she had grown weary of politics and wary of politicians.
She had heard Barack Obama speak and was moved by what she described as his authenticity and clarity. He did not appear to her to be typical. His call for a new approach to politics appealed to her. Quite simply, she said, “He gives me hope.”
“Your generation,” she continued, “had many such figures,” mentioning the Kennedys and Dr. King. “We have not. I want to believe he can make a Sarah’s observations prefigured the themes that the Obama campaign would capture with their ubiquitous signs reading …
